Unveiling My "Moa Riders" Series
Inspired by one of my favorite Studio Ghibli movies, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, my art series "Moa Riders" transports viewers to an imagined world where people traverse the stunning landscapes of Aotearoa on majestic Moa birds. The spark for this creative journey came from the film's opening scene, where a masked traveler rides a bird resembling a dodo. This prompted me to envision a world where Moas were integral to human life, sparking questions about the riders' attire, weapons, saddles, bridles, and training methods.
The series aims to evoke a sense of organic beauty, characterized by calming greens and blues, with magical golden highlights that invite closer inspection. At first glance, the artwork soothes with its serene palette, while a second look reveals detailed characters and elements, encouraging viewers to interpret or create their own stories.
Although a fourth piece that completes the narrative of a hunter wasn’t finished in time for this exhibition, it will be available on my website soon. This series not only showcases my unique imaginative vision but also invites viewers to engage with a world where history and fantasy intertwine.

Life Drawing
About a month ago, I stumbled upon a gem in my local community—the Linwood Arts and Community Center. I had been searching for more affordable and flexible art classes after realizing that Art Metro’s prices and schedule no longer fit my budget or timeframe. To my delight, I found exactly what I needed with the Cranmer Life Drawing classes.

A few of you might have already seen some posts about the children’s book that I’m currently illustrating and I wanted to share some of the behind the scenes with you.
My brother- and sister-in-law are the authors of “Frog Rock - The Rubbish Day”, which is about helping children learn that our communities function only because many people work hard behind the scenes, doing all kinds of tough jobs so that our lives are more comfortable.
