FAQs

Do you do people commissions as well? What subjects do you draw/paint?

I also draw people, for example wedding pastel portraits. For a special quote, please get in touch with me.

How many hours does it take you to create a portrait?

The duration of creating a portrait depends on its size and intricacy. Smaller portraits typically require 15 to 25 hours, while larger ones can extend to 40 hours or more if they are exceptionally large and complex.

What’s the best way to frame my artwork?

I definitely recommend to go to a professional framer. Framing your pet pastel portrait is more than just a finishing touch; it's a vital step in safeguarding your cherished artwork for the years to come. A well-chosen frame not only enhances the visual appeal but also shields your artwork from dust, UV rays, and environmental factors. This protective layer ensures that the vibrant colors and intricate details remain vivid, keeping your pet's memory alive in all its beauty. It's an investment in longevity.

Do you exclusively work in pastels?

I also love oils, water colors, gouache, ink and graphite in my personal artworks. I’m constantly trying out new materials and techniques, which I’ll be sharing over in my blog if you’re interested.

Do you use fixative spray on your pastel artwork?

I never use fixative, and here's why: Fixative introduces chemicals to the pure pigments of pastels, potentially compromising their quality. Over time, it may lead to yellowing or affect the overall characteristics of the artwork. I exclusively work with Clairefontaine Pastelmat, a surface that doesn't require fixative to preserve the integrity of the pastels.

What materials do you use?

I use high quality soft pastels from brands like Derwent, Faber Castell, Sennelier pastels, PanPastels and Clairefontaine Pastelmat as a painting surface.
