How to commission

Whether you're a seasoned art commission enthusiast or embarking on this journey for the first time, rest assured that I'm here to work hand-in-hand with you, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable process from start to finish!

These original artworks hold a special place as cherished heirlooms for families, sparking conversations and creating lasting memories. Each piece is meticulously crafted, thoughtfully designed to authentically represent the subject and honor the joy they've brought to their loved ones.

Feel free to reach out anytime—I'm always available to chat or address any questions you might have! I'm truly excited and eagerly looking forward to collaborating with you!

STEP 1 - Size & Budget

There are a few different sizes to choose from depending on your preferences and budget. If you’re not sure I can assist you with choosing the right option for you.

STEP 2 - Reference photos

When it comes to crafting the perfect pet portrait, it all starts with selecting the right reference photo. The ideal photo should be not too close, not too far from the subject and if possible at the same level of the pet. Please avoid fuzzy low resolution photos, lighting from the back or very dark photos where colours are not visible.

I've set some basic quality standards to make sure your final portrait truly mirrors your furry friend. For that extra touch of realism, a detailed reference photo is essential. The more detail, the more lifelike I can make your pet's portrait.

STEP 3 - Contact, Mock ups & Deposit

Ready to turn your pet's charm into a pastel masterpiece? After choosing your preferred size and pet photos, connect with me via the contact form or at wermaidstudio@gmail.com.

I'll work on layout mockups and discuss background details with you. Once you approve the mockup, a 50% deposit secures your booking, and I begin creating your portrait. The deposit is non-refundable and goes towards the material cost of the artwork and booking your space in my calendar.

I accept payments through Paypal, Bank transfer and Credit Card (incurs a 2.49% surcharge).

Please also let me know if you have a deadline.

STEP 4 - Updates & Progress

I enjoy sharing my commission progress on social media! You can follow my ongoing artwork updates on Instagram and Facebook.

For those special commissions that are meant to be a surprise or a gift, don't worry—I'm more than happy to keep you in the loop via email, Facebook Messenger, or your preferred method. We'll sort out these specifics before I dive into creating your unique artwork.

STEP 5 - Confirmation & Final Payment

Once I've put the final touches on your portrait, I'll send you a photo of the completed work for your approval. Your satisfaction is my top priority, and I'm dedicated to ensuring you're thrilled with the final result, so I'm open to making any subtle tweaks or changes you desire to ensure it's just right.

Please note that significant changes, like adding a background element, may incur an additional cost.

The final payment is due within the next 7 business days from the approval date.

STEP 6 - Shipping

At this point in time I only ship within New Zealand. If shipping is required I can give you a quote at the start of the commission.
